The Derrick Skating Club has been in operation in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada since September of 1966 and was Incorporated in 1976. All skaters registered in any of our programs automatically become members of Skate Canada, the governing body for figure skating in Canada.
Learn to Skate Programs
These include Pre-CanSkate, CanSkate, Advanced CanSkate, and Adult CanSkate. We also offer Inclusive Skating to special needs skaters (please contact our office for more information).
Figure Skating Group Programs
Introductory Figure Skating Academy (IFSA) bridges Learn to Skate and our STARSkate program. We also offer specialized group programs to our STARSkate and CompetitiveSkate athletes.
Private Level Figure Skating
This programs include Skate Canada’s STARSkate and CompetitiveSkate programs.
Off Ice classes
Offered multiple times per week to increase physical literacy, strength, stamina, and flexibility through fitness, jump, and dance classes.
Programming is offered at the following arenas:

The Derrick Skating Club has fundraising events in order to continue to offer an affordable skating environment to all of its members.
Members also have the option of participating in Bingo and Casino events to earn ice credits to off-set some of their ice fees.

Who can volunteer for Bingo or Casino events?
Any current Derrick Skating Club Home Club member or authorized representative who is 18 years of age.
- All Bingo sign up happens through Volunteer Sign Up in our Uplifter registration system. The release dates for each monthly Bingo Sign up sign will be noted in the monthly newsletter. Spaces will be filled on a first come, first served basis.
- Casino Shift sign up happens similarly, but only every couple of years when Casinos are awarded.
- All DSC Bingo events are held at the Parkway Bingo Hall (8775 51 Avenue NW).
- DSC Casino events are assigned by the AGLC approximately 5 months prior to the event.
